Strain W303R carries a copy of ADE2 integrated into the rDNA (see Materials and Methods for a discussion of the half sector assay). Mean values for the rate of marker loss are given with standard deviation in parentheses. A total of least 20,000 colonies from three independent isolates were examined for each strain.
